Can't clean it or finish it.

Argh! I set a goal to get about five feet of flower garden cleaned out, seemed easy, quickly done and I would reward myself with a couple of new plants to go into that spot.  Good goal, great reward, I was excited.  I had the motivation to get after it.  And I went at it hard.

Two trash cans of quack grass roots and oh, about two feet finished and I ran into a serious setback - a wet setback.  For some reason that I haven't figured out yet, the ground is staying wet.  The wet ground is mostly clay (and quack grass roots) and is impossible to dig up and seperate from the weedy stuff.

I still don't have a plan of attack but I started by turning off all the water to the sprinkler system in the whole backyard.  Soon it should dry to just the right state that will allow me to dig and seperate.  That does happen with clay soil, you just have to wait for it.  Another case where timeing is everything.

If that time doesn't come or I miss it, I think I will just dig out all the bad, root infested dirt and put in new stuff.
